Alert Procedure
Alert levels are a way to quickly alert the crew of any possible threats that may be present on the station. Alert levels also determine which procedures to follow, including security. On certain alert levels, security may be granted more leniency to deal with threats and unruly crew. All alerts can be called by members of crew with Command-level access at a working Communications Console. This excludes codes Gamma and Delta, which can only be called through the game's automated functions or via Admin Intervention.
Failure to abide by the regulations put on by these alert levels may result in contract termination.
Code Green
Attention! Station alert level is now green! It is now safe to return to your workplaces.
This is the default alert code at the beginning of the shift. This is not expected to be changed unless a threat is suspected or confirmed.
Protocol
- Security
- All weapons must be holstered or kept in pockets/personal storage unless absolutely required.
- Random searches are not permitted without express permission (including a signed and stamped warrant) by either the Head of Security or Captain. However, searches are still permitted if there is reasonable suspicion of a crime.
- Secure Areas
- EVA Storage, Tech Storage, Gravity Generator, Engineering Secure Storage, AI Upload, Vault, Gateway, and anywhere requiring Command-level access permissions that does not get regularly used.
- Secure areas such as EVA are to be left unbolted and ready to be used for their intended purposes.
- There are situations where exceptions apply; The Vault can still be entered in the event that the contents within are required by the R&D department, or when a critical item needs to be hidden away.
- EVA Storage, Tech Storage, Gravity Generator, Engineering Secure Storage, AI Upload, Vault, Gateway, and anywhere requiring Command-level access permissions that does not get regularly used.
- General Crew
- While not expressly required, it is recommended that the crew activate and maximize their Suit Sensors (by turning on "Coordinates" in the context menu), due to the potential for workplace accidents and other incidents.
- Free transit through the station is permitted for crew, excluding the Secure Areas listed above.
Code Yellow
Attention! Station alert level is now Yellow! There is a structural or atmospheric threat within the station. Engineering staff are advised to immediately respond and perform safety measures. Crewmembers are advised to stay away from the threat, and stay in their workplaces if necessary.
If the station is put into alert Code Yellow, that means there is an atmospheric threat aboard the station. An atmospheric threat is described as anything that can possibly make the station uninhabitable without an EVA suit or breath mask, and includes the following: mass hull breaches, spacing, air distribution failures, extreme temperature changes, or dangerous gas leaks.
Protocol
- Command & Security
- Command and security personnel should ensure that EVA suits are properly distributed among the crew while maintaining vigilance.
- Secure Areas
- EVA Storage, Tech Storage, Gravity Generator, Engineering Secure Storage, AI Upload, Vault, Gateway, and anywhere requiring Command-level access permissions that does not get regularly used.
- It is recommended that all Secure Areas are bolted shut unless their use is necessary.
- EVA Storage, Tech Storage, Gravity Generator, Engineering Secure Storage, AI Upload, Vault, Gateway, and anywhere requiring Command-level access permissions that does not get regularly used.
- General Crew
- All personnel are highly recommended to maximize their Suit Sensors with coordinates set.
- Personnel are expected to report any suspicious activity to the nearest member of security, or to use communications equipment such as NanoChat or their headset to contact security.
- Personnel are highly encouraged to either get into a safe area, or find emergency EVA suits paired with oxygen/nitrogen if they are needed.
Code Blue
Attention! Station alert level is now blue! There is a confirmed threat to the station. Security should perform random checks. Crewmembers are advised to be vigilant and report suspicious activity to security.
When the station is under Code Blue, that means there is a suspected threat aboard the station, or in nearby space. This includes any signs of hostile activity that have not caused direct damage to the station or the crew, but seem present otherwise. This can include the discovery of Syndicate communications and equipment (cryptographic sequencer, empty syndicate implanter, etc). Minor threats such as thieves, bar fights, and non-violent protests are not considered dangerous enough to enter Code Blue. If more than 15 minutes pass on Code Blue without any suspected hostile activity, it is advised to deescalate back to Code Green.
Protocol
- Security
- Weapons do not need to be holstered. However, it is recommended that security personnel follow the relevant SOP in order to prevent accidents and to be fully aware of armament procedure.
- Random searches are fully permitted. Security personnel may detain any personnel refusing a random search in order to conduct said search.
- Secure Areas
- EVA Storage, Tech Storage, Gravity Generator, Engineering Secure Storage, AI Upload, Vault, Gateway, and anywhere requiring Command-level access permissions that does not get regularly used.
- It is recommended that all Secure Areas be bolted down unless their use is necessary.
- Excursions into the Gateway are not recommended, unless for the purpose of a rescue party.
- EVA Storage, Tech Storage, Gravity Generator, Engineering Secure Storage, AI Upload, Vault, Gateway, and anywhere requiring Command-level access permissions that does not get regularly used.
- General Crew
- All personnel are highly recommended to maximize their Suit Sensors.
- Personnel are expected to report any suspicious activity to the nearest member of security, or to use communications equipment such as NanoChat or their headset to contact security.
- Personnel are highly encouraged to exercise caution, even if the threat is only suspected. Following simple safety procedures (such as not going into the Maintenance shafts alone) can prevent needless accidents or harm from possible hostiles.
- Visitors to the station (regarding anyone with Civilian-level access and no particular department to go to) are recommended to stay in public areas for their safety.
